Why replace your Shepard's Hook?

The Shepard's Hook is a simple wire used to retain the fire control components on most Kalashnikov pattern firearms. In order to replace the fire control group, the Shepard's Hook must be removed. During this process, the Shepard's Hook in usually becomes bent and is difficult to re-install. Furthermore, Shepard's Hooks are known to be unreliable, and snap under hard use.
